Ergometry, also known as a exercise tolerance test or treadmill test, assesses the heart’s response to physical stress. This procedure involves monitoring the electrical activity of the heart, blood pressure, and symptoms while the patient exercises on a treadmill or stationary bike.

Exercise stress testing helps diagnose coronary artery disease, evaluate exercise capacity, and assess treatment effectiveness. If the ergometric test is “positive,” the patient is referred for coronary angiography.
